Information We Collect

Device Information

Anonymous User ID
An automatically created anonymous identifier used solely for processing your image recognition requests. This ID is not linked to your personal identity.
Image Data
Photos you upload are temporarily stored in cloud storage for processing, then automatically deleted after completion. We don't retain images long-term on our servers.
Optional Permissions
You're Always in Control
Certain features require additional permissions, but these are entirely optional. You can deny these permissions and still use other parts of the app. We only request access when you actively use a feature that needs it.

When enabled, data is encrypted and synced to iCloud, managed by Apple's secure infrastructure and your control

Apple Services

Cloud Services

Successfully processed data is not stored in cloud databases. These services are provided by trusted third-party providers.
AI Services
  • Recognition Services: Analyzes images to identify Chinese characters accurately
  • Content Generation: Creates personalized learning materials based on recognized characters
Images and text data are sent to AI service providers' servers for processing. Please refer to their respective privacy policies for details on data handling.
Feedback Services
User feedback is stored via third-party services for support and product improvement. Feedback is collected anonymously unless you choose to provide your email address for follow-up communication.

Access & Correction
View generated content in the app and delete local data whenever you want
Delete Uploads
Images are automatically deleted after processing. Contact us if you need additional confirmation
Remove Anonymous Account
Request deletion of your anonymous user account by contacting us directly
Revoke Permissions
Disable camera or photo access in system settings, or revoke CloudKit permissions in Apple ID settings
Delete Synced Data
Manage iCloud data in Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > iCloud Drive, or contact us for assistance
Export Your Data
Premium users can export learning materials in CSV, Markdown, or Anki formats stored only on your device
Children's Privacy & Policy Updates
Protecting Children
HanziPic is designed for general users and is not intended for children under 13 years of age. If we discover that we have collected information from children without proper guardian consent, we will delete it immediately.
Parents and guardians should supervise children's use of the app and ensure they understand proper data sharing practices.
Staying Current
As we improve HanziPic and respond to changing privacy regulations, we may update this privacy policy. When we make significant changes, we'll notify you through in-app prompts or version update notes.
